HAXBY SCHOOL  UPDATED

In 1923 Andrew Wellstead purchased some land adjoining his father's property and named it "Haxby" after a village in York, England. Haxby is 34 kilometers south east of Borden, between the properties of "Petersham" and " Jamvale".

The school opened in 1936 with Miss Marie Baron as their first teacher in charge.

In 1943 the was closed due to lack of a teacher during the war years.

It was located on the Borden - Bremer Bay Road close to the Stirling Ranges.
